Licensing Solutions Competency

Continuing to raise the bar in their Microsoft partnership, Bay Computing Group announced today that the Licensing Solutions competency was attained with a specialization in Software Asset Management. This demonstrates the commitment to proper licensing selection and ongoing management, which is such a vital component of a properly managed technology infrastructure.

Today, license management has become more complex than ever with an ever increasing number of options suited for varying situations. With more comprehensive legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley and others, the importance of proper software asset management is at an all time high to businesses. “We are seeing more company owners and executives take an active role in the software management area as they are becoming aware that they are personally liable for any issues that arise due to shortages or misuse under the license agreement," said consultant Ben Gibbs who was a member of the team that was certified today. He went on to stress that in order to properly manage these business assets companies need a complete system from procurement all the way to retirement. “We can help companies institute the proper procedures and systems to purchase and track all of these vital business assets.”

Microsoft Information Worker Competency

In their continuing quest to build on their strategic partnership with Microsoft since attaining Gold Certified Partner status, Bay Computing Group announced today the addition of the Information Worker competency. The competency was awarded for the Office System Desktop Deployment specialization. This demonstrates the company’s depth of skill in the Microsoft Office suite of products to include all versions of Office, Project and Visio.

The addition was in alignment with goals stated a week prior in the company’s announcement of attaining the Gold Certified Partner level. This gives the company three competencies in total with three specializations. Clearly this is only the beginning for company president Kirk Harding, as he reinforced his position that more will be added in the future and that some are in progress already. “We have made a nice step here so quickly after our previous addition. Now we will focus on the Mobility Solutions along with a few others that are in alignment with what we offer our clients.”

Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Level

Concord, California based Bay Computing Group achieved the highest level in the Microsoft Partner Program becoming a Gold Certified Partner.

To achieve this level requires that a number of requirements be met, including Microsoft certifications, company competency in two or more key functional areas, and many client references for projects performed. It was a large undertaking, but one of significant value according to company president Kirk Harding. “We place a high value on our relationship with Microsoft. As a company, it has been a key strategic goal to align ourselves with the top companies in the industry. Microsoft’s Partner Program is clearly the best and most established in the business, so it is a great honor for us to achieve this level. We look forward to further strengthening our relationship in the future and thank Microsoft for all their support and commitment to our mutual success.”

Bay Computing Group has plans to add more competencies and further solidify their standing in the partner community. Currently, there are 13 different competencies available, each with their own detailed qualifications and requirements. No company has them all and few attain more that two. “I would like to see us attain each of the competencies that relate to our business model,” Mr. Harding went on to say, adding that he could see Bay Computing Group adding several others in the future.

Recap of 2005 Results

The 2005 fiscal year was an exciting and eventful year for Bay Computing Group. The company saw another year of record growth fueled by extensive “word of mouth” advertising and the acquisition of eMotion Networks in Burlingame, California. The company further enhanced its relationship with Microsoft by adding the Small Business Specialist title in the fourth quarter. This compliments their current standing as a Microsoft Certified Partner.

In other news, the company made a large operational change by relocating their headquarters to downtown Concord during the hot East Bay summer. The move was a major upgrade to company facilities, and included the installation of a top notch server room to host services for the company and clients alike. The building also features a state-of-the-art meeting room.

The year ahead holds many additional opportunities, as the company has firm plans to build on vendor relationships such as Microsoft. The company announced plans to target Microsoft’s highest partner level, Gold Certified Partner, for the first half of the year, followed by adding additional core competencies.

The company will also unveil all-new service plans this summer to better align with client requirements. “The industry moves at a fast pace and that produces new dynamics ever year,” said company president Kirk Harding. Adding “we need to re-invent ourselves continually to best serve our target customer, which is the small to mid-size businesses with limited or no technology support.” He went on to express his enthusiasm over the trends in the industry that point to a greater focus on the small business segment in particular. Most noteworthy was the Microsoft driven campaign to promote their Small Business Specialist program.

Small Business Specialist

In a move to further demonstrate their commitment to the small business market, Bay Computing Group today achieved the Small Business Specialist designation from Microsoft. The program was announced officially a few months back at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bay Computing Group representatives in attendance were very impressed by Microsoft’s continuing commitment to the small business market and to their partner community. Bay Computing Group becomes one of the first partners worldwide to attain this new designation.

“The small business segment is clearly on everyone’s radar these days, but no one has shown a greater commitment to this market than Microsoft with their partners. This is a very exciting opportunity for us since the small business market has been our primary focus from the beginning,” said company president Kirk Harding this week. He went on to add, “This will open up more product lines to supplement the already very popular Small Business Server product that Microsoft offers. When Microsoft commits to an area of focus, other vendors listen, and ultimately the largest beneficiaries will be the small business owners. They will see products previously only within the reach of the Enterprise priced at levels within their budget.”

Microsoft’s Small Business Server has had enormous success not only in the United States, but overseas as well. With more vendors developing products catered to this platform and priced accordingly, there will an opportunity for smaller companies to leverage technology at an even higher level. Senior IT Manager Dennis Goldwater added “Small business owners want to get the most out of technology just like Fortune 500 companies, but the price points were not always there. Now, thanks to Microsoft’s lead, there will be many more choices and opportunities available to these companies.”

The move further solidifies Bay Computing Group’s position as a premier provider of network solutions and management in the San Francisco Bay Area. eMotion Networks has a wide range of clientele from Menlo Park to San Francisco, with a focus on the Interior Design business. Along with Sako Bezdijan, eMotion’s other founding partner, they wanted to find they best match for their existing client base. “We were approached by several technology companies to acquire eMotion Networks, and we were the most impressed with Bay Computing Group and their innovative approach to the technology business. That was the determining factor for us in selecting them to take over our company.”
