Intradyn has announced a new data backup and recovery services for small businesses, offered through its network of certified managed service providers. The solution combines off-site back-up services with Intradyn's RocketVault backup and archiving appliance. According to the company, the service provides both greater data security and faster, simplified backup and restore than traditional e-vaulting solutions. Thus the new backup and recovery services for small businesses will be more user friendly and more appealing to the general public thanks to its improvements.
The RocketVault appliance provides both onsite and offsite backup. The device encrypts user data using AES 256-bit encryption and stores it locally, while also sending it to the service provider's remote site for disaster recovery purposes. With up to 4 TB of storage for redundant on-site backup, the RocketVault appliance can be used for extremely fast local recovery when off-site recovery is not required. According to Intradyn CEO Gary Doan, local restores over a 100 GB local area net connection can be up to 400 times faster than restores from a remote location. Moreover, Doan says the RocketVault appliance and service offers customers unparalleled security by encrypting backed-up data both locally and remotely.
